The doors open to the four rooms and the captives spill out back into the main room, shielding their eyes, taking a moment to adjust to the light, something some of them will laugh about later. Projected on each of the walls near the rooms are letters, S, M, L and XL, under each are piles of clothes, they look like hospital scrubs, one pile of pants, one pile of shirts. It takes a moment for this to register and for them to even remember at this point that they are all still stark naked. The past 24 hours has been sent so secluded and messed with their minds so much that they can't even comprehend that their new clothes await them and they need only to determine what size they would wear.
A couple of them soon figure out the puzzle of S,M, L and XL and they go to put on their new outfits. All of them eventually move about the large room and gather up their clothing, taking it with them and then moving to the center of the room. One person rushes to the front of the center where they usually stand waiving her tag, it's clear she's number 5. The monitor comes on and Cipher is on the screen, the P90s enter the room, it has only taken 5 days of mental and physical torture to train these men and women to obey and know exactly how to begin their day.
Anne breaks away from her womans group to gather some clothing, she heads to the South Wall to gather up some small sized clothes but rather than running back to the middle of the room with them she braces herself against the wall to put on her new pants and shirt. As she does she peers over into the now dark room barely lit by the lights in the larger room something catches her eye, she thinks to herself, Is that a hand? She pushes open the ajar door a bit more and backs up agasp.
"LIZ!" she screams out. "EVERYONE! He killed them, he killed everyone in this room!" she kicks the door open and the light from the room illuminates the massacre in the room on the South wall. "He killed all of them!"
Half of the group thats already standing in the middle looks back, afraid to move away from the center others immediately look to Cipher waiting for some sort of response from him, a laugh, a warning, something. But he just sits there in his chair waiting for the group to compose itself. He only responds with "Number 5 please step to the front." as if he were serving cold cuts at the local deli.
"I'm right here! Please I want to go." Judy Beatty crying in front of the group. "Please I don't care about those people, I don't care what you did, just send me home. PLEASE!" she keeps waiving her ticket about as if it will speed up the process.
Collette, a young woman who had been in the room with her all night, moves over to her to try and comfort Judy, as Liz and the others rush over to the South wall to Anne and to see what has happened. Cipher hasn't told them they couldn't and the P90s are making no attempt to get them back to the center of the room. "Take it easy honey, we have to see what's going on." Collette rubs her shoulders and attempts to calm her down.
"You take it easy! I want out of here NOW! I want to go HOME! NOW. To hell with them or what he did to them, I want to go now." she pushes Collette to the side and waves her tag frantically. "PLEASE, I want to leave the expedition, I survived, PLEASE." she begs and cries until her voice becomes hoarse.
Scott, still bruised from his rubber bullet wounds, along with Marcus and of all people Renee pulls the bodies from the the South wall room, back into the main room. They drag eight bodies out and lie them next to each other, immediately everyone notices Kevin and Bobby are amongst the dead. The two who seemed to have started all of the violence the first night are dead just now, most had assumed they had died days ago. "How did this happen? Was anyone else in this room?" Scott looks around for answers.
Renee looks around waiting to see what is said and then Bonny steps forward. "I was in there, it was horrible, the darkness, the shouting, the thickness in the air, like some sort of gas was pumped in the room, I'm sure you all suffered the same thing." she pauses waiting for the groups response.
"Our room was fine." Liz steps over to Bonny, trying to help her up, she's now slumped over as though she was about to become ill.
"So was ours, we were just cramped, I didn't notice anything else." Dalton looks to see if anyone else has complaints about their room.
"So he just did that to our room?! Why?!! Was it because we had such few people?! I knew I should have gone with you, I'm sorry, I just was so nervous and scared." Bonny clings to Liz who's now being helped by Anne getting Bonny to sit down.
"Its okay, don't worry. What happened?" she sets her down and pushes Bonny's hair out of her teared up eyes.
"I don't know. It got so warm, we had no lights. That one there," she points to Kevin. "He was so mean, so wild, he killed him first." She points to Granger. "He just choked him, you could hear it, I could hear his screams. I laid on the floor covering my mouth for hours and I listened to the horror that went down around me. They begged for their lives but he just kept going. Each time they would try and fight back but he was just to big. He gathered their numbers, he swallowed them, it was disgusting listening to him gag and spit after each kill. Oh my god I can't stop hearing it." she covered her ears and rocked back and forth.
Renee moved over to her and held her in his arms. "How did he die?" he looks at her, playing his role perfectly, no smirk, no smile or wink to clue anyone in. There was no way all of the other men in the other rooms accounted for everyone, no one will remember which room he came out of, the two of them were counting on this at least.
"He sat there calling out softly for hours. 'Hello' 'Hello' wondering if anyone else was there, but I didn't move, I barely breathed, I waited until I heard him breathing heavily, praying he was asleep. And when I was sure he was out, I maneuvered my legs around his neck, and I, and I...." she cries into Renee's chest. He pets her hair and rocks with her quietly whispering 'shhhhh' into her ear. She tells the story with such sincerity that no one doubts her, she's no great actress so she knew she had to sprinkle this story with some truth, the part of her choking Kevin to death with her thighs is so believable because its one hundred percent true.
"What did you pump in their room." Scott yells at the monitor, as the rest of the group now moves back to the center of the room. "What was it? Gas? What?!"
Cipher looks down from the monitor, "You're treading on thin ice Scott, but I will answer your stupid question. I put nothing more in their room than I put in all your rooms, I just put each of you and fear, thats all. Now, everyone to the middle of the room, Judy here wants to go home. P90s." The P90s raise their guns and take aim at the crowd. Ten more of them come in again as they did the other day and drag the bodies back into the South wall room. That rooms door shuts, as does the North Wall room and the East room, leaving only the one to the West ajar. "Judy, enter that room and you are done here."
She runs to the room crying and the door shuts behind her. The number 5 is removed from the board and Cipher turns from the screen. "What about the numbers of the eight people?!" Daniel shouts to the screen.
"I don't have their numbers." Cipher responds coldly.
"She said that fat guy swallowed them, cut him open, get them out." Scott shouts at him deep from within his throat.
"Shoot him." A P90 steps forward and fires a round dropping Scott again to the ground as the rubber bullet strikes him between his shoulder blades. "I don't take orders from you Scott, and I certainly don't dissect bodies. Anyone whom has died here is returned to their families without any type of tampering from me or my people. I will not remove those numbers from him, if thats indeed where they are. I will not send him back ripped apart and dissected so Mr 100 Days knows who else will suffer as long as he will." For the first time since they've met him Cipher shows emotion, he's ticked.
"You mean you won't give them any evidence. Don't you try and make it seem as though your some humanitarian, you're barely human." Scott winces in pain but gets out his retort, apparently not caring if he's shot again.
"You know what your problem is Scott, not enough Sun. You people need to get out more. Here let me help." Panels slide back from the ceiling, and immediately after the P90s retreat from the balconies as the balconies themselves slide back into the wall. Light bulbs, hundreds and thousands of light bulbs, the types of bulbs that are used as spotlights in Christmas decorations blanket the ceiling.
"Maybe this will make you less grouchy, give you some color. Welcome to Day 6." the monitor blinks off and the lights click on.
